Three young men, two with darker skin, one with light, all in their early 20s, newbies to the job, held firm to a sapphire colored gem within the cavern wall. “What is it?”, asked Roark, as he jogged lightly towards them. “Roark! Roark, come quick!”, yelled a young man, further down the cavern. The humidity within the cave was strong, as a summer breeze was channeling the heat further into the caverns. Working continuously within the brightly lit mines, the searchlights shined brightly upon his sweaty body. Later that morning, at work in the mines, Roark chipped away at the rocky cavern wall with his pickaxe.
